The following are select filters for those artisans who are engaged in traditional glassblowing, kiln forming, slumping, fusing and kiln enamelling as well as forging and forge welding. For information about the specific filters listed, please click on the filter label that heads each column. On those links, you will find information about the filter as well as transmission charts for each filter.
This lens is a soft green color and is available in shades 2.0 and 2.5. The spectral response of this glass shows excellent ultraviolet and infrared protection. The visible light transmission is adequate for good visibility under most shop working conditions where illumination is somewhat limited. This filter does NOT provide sodium flare protection. Suggested uses are off hand work, allowing comfortable viewing of glory holes, fire buckets, gathering, enameling, and general kiln work. This filter is also recommended for use while forge working and forge welding. AUR-99® bifocals are supplied with Aura's exclusive "Uniform Density" feature. A 3.2 mm thick wafer of AUR-99® is laminated over a thinly ground glass bifocal lens - giving you the same filtration through the bifocal as around it. No other manufacturer can make this claim. This lamination process also makes for a safer lens. Clip ons are available in this filter. Lenses are available in plano (non-prescription), single vision, readers and laminated bifocals, trifocals and progressive style lenses.. NOTE: THIS FILTER IS NOT DESIGNED FOR USE BY LAMPWORKERS. Specifications (Shade 2.0): Maximum Visible Light Transmission: 38.6 % Specifications (Shade 2.5): Maximum Visible Light Transmission: 23.3 % |

This filter is an enhanced version of the AUR®-92. It has added infrared absorption that the AUR®-92 does not have. The AGW®-300 is a revolutionary new filter designed for hot glass workers that are working at the furnace doing gathers and gazing into firepots as well as scientific and artistic glassworkers who are doing work with clear borosilicate only. This is also an excellend filter for the metal worker who needs high visible light transmission coupled with excellent infra-red (heat energy) filtration as well as sodium flare filtration. Soft glass workers will also find this filter useful to remove the heat energy that you are exposed to while working with large torches and/or large pieces. The AGW®-300 is a laminated filter with the same transmission characteristics of our original AGW®-186 filter. The filter has very good visible light transmission, averaging 60 to 70%, with excellent absorption of the sodium flare. Suggested uses are: High pressure torches and temperature applications on hard glasses like Pyrex®, and Vicor® where high visible acuity is required along with filtration of high amounts of infrared radiation. Clip ons are available in this filter. Lenses are available in plano (non-prescription), readers and single vision lenses. Protected under United States Patent Number 6,612,697.
