This filter is an enhanced version of exclusive Blue Didymium™. It has added infrared absorption that Blue Didymium™ does not have.
The AGW®-300 is a revolutionary new filter designed for hot glass workers that are working at the furnace doing gathers and gazing into firepots as well as scientific and artistic glassworkers who are doing work with clear borosilicate only. This is also an excellent filter for the metalworker who needs high visible light transmission coupled with excellent infra-red (heat energy) filtration as well as sodium flare filtration. Soft glass workers will also find this filter useful to remove the heat energy that you are exposed to while working with large torches and/or large pieces.
The AGW®-300 is a laminated filter with the same transmission characteristics of our original AGW®-186 filter. It consists of a base lens of Blue DidymiumTM and a thin layer of our exclusive lightly tinted IR filter glass. This filter has very good visible light transmission, averaging 60 to 70%, with excellent absorption of the sodium flare.
Suggested uses are: High-pressure torches and temperature applications on hard glasses like Pyrex®, and Vicor® where high visible acuity is required along with filtration of high amounts of infrared radiation.
The AGW-300 filter is available in non-prescription, readers, and single vision prescription forms.
Thickness Advisory: This filter is thicker than normal lenses. In non-prescription form, it is approximately 5 mm thick. Single vision prescription adds at least 1 mm.
